Case Study : TLX GOLD - Breathing new life into British heritage
Combined breathable multi-foil insulation and breather underlay
Removes condensation risk*
Sympathetic to its installation
Architects Donald Insall Associates needed a specific solution to help restore the roof of London’s 19th Century Crossness Pumping Station - a unique part of Britain’s industrial heritage and an outstanding example of Victorian engineering.
What was specified:
More than 2,000 square metres of TLX Gold, the first all-in-one breathable multi-foil and roofing membrane, was chosen as it enabled renovation work to be completed with minimal disruption to the building.
- TLX Gold provided improved insulation
- It was quick and easy to install
- Disruption was minimal to the profile of the listed historic building roof
Alan Frost, director at Donald Insall Associates said: “We specified multi-foil insulation for the roof as it’s a very valuable product to use when you want to improve insulation in a listed building. It offers maximum insulation value with minimum alteration to the profile of the roof. Many of the alternatives available would have required modifications to the inside or outside profile of the roof which just wasn’t an option in this instance. We used TLX Gold extensively on this project and are very pleased with the outcome. I would recommend its use again where similar issues arise”.
