Case Study : TLX GOLD - College warms to Gold star treatment
Combined breathable multi-foil insulation and breather underlay
Removes condensation risk*
Externally fitted with minimum internal disturbance
The existing slate roofing system failed at The College Ystrad Mynach. The roof required an improvement in its thermal performance in keeping with the 25 percent rule of current Building Regulations. Glamorgan Services of Neath turned to Web Dynamics for a workable solution.
What was specified?
TLX Gold, installed in the same way as a standard roofing tile underlay, was specified for use in combination with the existing glass wool insulation. It can be used when upgrading or renovating a roof and presents no condensation risk.
By using TLX Gold, Glamorgan Services:
- was able to meet current Building Regulations 2000 L1B
- didn’t require access to the loft space which meant the suspended ceiling wasn’t disturbed
- avoided a condensation risk by installing a breathable product
Nick Elsmore, contracts director of Glamorgan Services said:” We have previously used TLX Silver but in this instance we needed a breathable product. TLX Gold was a welcomed solution and just as easy to install as normal roofing felt.
“The installation was trouble free and TLX Gold was impressive to use. I have no hesitation using it again – it does what is says on the tin so to speak.”
