Case Study : TLX SILVER - Rising to bakery challenge

TLX Silver logoOriginal BBA approved multi-foil

Works as a performance enhancing solution with rigid board and glasswool

Delivers more loft space and an airtight solution

TLX Silver installationConverting an old bakery and barn into a 21st Century living environment could have delivered some insulation headaches had multi-foil convert Ian Slater, not used an original BBA approved multi-foil for a solution.

What was specified:

TLX Silver is an established product as a performance enhancing solution for roofs when used with rigid board and glass wool.

The project required a roofing answer that met current building regulations but didn’t alter the look of the property. TLX Silver was specified below rafters filled with 150mm of Isover glass wool.

  • Conversion maintained an elegant eaves line and the overall structural size of roof didn’t increase
  • By using TLX Silver, the project saved time and money
  • Installation was easier to inspect to check insulation was properly installed

TLX Silver installationIan Slater, architectural technologist said:” I prefer to use a multi-foil over any other form of insulation. When combined with soft insulation between rafters it’s easier to inspect to ensure it’s correctly taped and battened. Rigid board insulation can hide a messy and potentially faulty installation.

“The added benefit of TLX Silver is that unlike some other multi-foils it is BBA approved which means we don’t incur issues with Building Control when it’s specified”.
