Scott Rawlings of Ankers and Rawlings Developments in Dorset was already sold on the benefits of using TLX multi-foil insulation when it came to the re-roofing of his own 100 year old five bedroom detached home in Poole.

Having used TLX Silver previously on several business projects, Scott was pleased to find that he could deliver an insulation upgrade using Web Dynamics’ TLX Gold - an over the rafters solution installed from the outside.

The roofing installation, by John James Roofing, saw 70mm PIR between rafters with TLX Gold installed over rafters and 25 x 38mm battens and counter battens on top – delivering a neat and speedy insulation upgrade.

What was specified:

• More than 330 square metres of TLX Gold, a combined multi-foil insulation and breather membrane was installed.
• TLX Gold helps overcome the technical and structural problems of raising the roofline - enabling the roofing line and building appearance to be maintained yet its insulation performance to be improved
• TLX Gold helps meet Building Regulations' rule that where 25 percent or more of a roof is being renovated, the thermal performance must be upgraded and the 15 year payback rule met.

Scott Rawlings of Ankers and Rawlings Developments said: “I had intended using TLX Silver as I have used the product before on many occasions and know it well. However when I came across TLX Gold it was clear that this was a better product for this particular application as it can be installed easily from the outside of a building.

“There were no problems at all with the installation – it was an easy and quick product to use. It also presented no difference in cost in the installation which is an important point to make.”
