About Us
Company background
In 1997 Web Dynamics Ltd invented the three layer micro porous breather membrane. Whilst this technology is primarily used in construction products, we also developed and sell a specialist and unique range of materials for disposable protective Workwear. This protective technology covers a wide range of chemical and biological hazards.
In 1995, while researching the use of this technology for humanitarian relief, Web Dynamics saw the need for control of air leakage and the benefits of reflective surfaces in insulation. This led to the development of our TLX Silver multi-foil.
Whilst others have taken the route of some dubious testing and science to produce their claims, Web Dynamics steadfastly stuck to accepted test protocols carried out by UKAS accredited test houses such as the National Physical Laboratory. As a consequence we achieved the first BBA for a multi-foil insulation in 2006.
We are a technology and innovation led company which sees our core business as moisture and energy management for the construction industry.
Breather membranes
Web Dynamics has a range of UV breather membranes which use the best material technology available in the market place. These are BBA certified for both roof and wall application.
Multi-foils
Our original product, 1.2m wide TLX Silver, is BBA accredited, NHBC accepted and LABC approved and is now the market leading multi-foil. It can be used above but is primarily used in below the rafter applications. This is the classic loft conversion product, used either with mineral wool or PIR and is a moisture and air flow barrier. TLX Silver now comes in two thicknesses and carries a number of patents.
From here, Web Dynamics developed and patented TLX RafterFit, which is a fast fit narrow width product used between rafters and studs. It incorporates wings to preset the insulating air gaps. The product also works well with under floor heating in wooden floors.
We have recently gained BBA approval for TLX Silver in timber frame walls. This enables timber frame companies to achieve an increase in Sustainable Home code rating without increasing stud depth. In one layer we achieve air and moisture control and increased insulation. Along with all multi-foils, it is fault tolerant.
In the background we developed and patented TLX Gold, which is the world’s first air tight, two-in-one breathable multi-foil and roofing membrane. The crucial reflective breather layer is cellulose based. Previous attempts at achieving breathable reflective solutions have been based on micro perforation which has a number of limitations and is specifically not approved for use in roofs.
We took the further step of adding a high performance breathable membrane as the top layer of TLX Gold so that the product can be used as a direct replacement for a simple breather membrane.
TLX Gold has a full set of test results from UKAS accredited test houses such as the BBA and this year achieved the European Technical Approval (ETA) and the the product grows in popularity:
- Upgrading of existing roofs, moving the primary insulation from ceiling level to rafter level. This allows the loft to be used for storage and reduces condensation risk.
- Current regulation requires roof repairs above 25% of area to upgrade to current standards subject to the 15 year payback rule. Until TLX Gold arrived this was impractical in a number of applications. We are currently awaiting LABC approval for this solution.
- A number of people have used TLX Gold on the cavity side of timber frames, giving a highly breathable reflective insulation layer combined with the protection of the built in breather membrane.
Web Dynamics is based near Bolton in Lancashire. All our products are manufactured in the UK and are guaranteed for 25 years.
